Focus on Fathers, a program of PHMC subsidiary Health Promotion Council (HPC), has launched a new podcast. The show, Focus on Fathers: Dads Supporting Dads, is co-hosted by longtime program leader Larry Woody and current program coordinator Hakim Smith. Their unique experiences as fathers and parent educators from different generations anchor the podcast in both the program’s historical impact and the challenges fathers face today.
The podcast is intended to be a space created by men, for men – a place for real stories and insights on parenting, relationships and personal growth. Episodes feature conversations with special guests and subject-matter experts from Philadelphia’s fatherhood landscape on topics such as child development, men’s mental health, co-parenting, custody and more. The show also highlights stories from fathers who have participated in Focus on Fathers, as well as discussions with the program’s current parent educators.
Focus on Fathers helps fathers, stepfathers and other male caregivers ages 18 years and older develop and maintain healthy relationships with their children. The program provides free parenting and co-parenting education classes, case management, job-seeking support and referrals to community resources.
