Embedded in Communities
PHMC’s approach to providing care to the Philadelphia region is to embed ourselves in our communities. It’s not enough to provide expertise in our service areas — we seek to understand the people we’re reaching and the priorities that matter most to them.
Building relationships and partnering with local leaders, residents and stakeholders is key to meeting communities where they are and delivering care that addresses their needs. Our strategy for building relationships isn’t to wait for people to approach us. Instead, we bring PHMC directly to the neighborhoods we serve.
Community engagement drives us to meet people where they are and act on what matters most.
PHMC Day
Each year, PHMC Day is a citywide series of family-friendly events that brings together our programs, staff and partners to celebrate our communities and offer wellness screenings, local resources, music and food. By meeting people where they are, we strengthen relationships, reduce barriers to care and create healthier communities across Philadelphia.
Additionally, our programs, subsidiaries and departments host job fairs that connect prospective candidates with hiring managers; educational workshops on financial literacy and health insurance benefits; pop-up shops with local businesses; and outreach to schools.
Economic Impact
PHMC runs nearly 200 programs providing direct resources and care to thousands of individuals and communities across the region.
