The PHMC Public Health Campus on Cedar has opened its Cedar Avenue entrance and courtyard to provide easier, more convenient access from this side of the building. As part of a phased approach to the Cedar Campus’ construction project, focus turned to the facility’s entrance on Cedar Avenue. During the renovation, patients and community members entered the building through the 54th Street side. The new entrance now offers more convenient access to the services on the first floor of the Cedar Campus, including dental care, pharmacy services and a Community Wellness Hub. Patients will also have easier access to elevators that can take them to additional programs on the second floor of the facility. The new entry adheres to ADA accessibility standards, particularly for individuals who use wheelchairs.
The Cedar Campus has undergone a multi-phase renovation since its launch in March 2021 to create space for its new Federally Qualified Health Center, dental practice, medical respite for patients experiencing homelessness, crisis response center, pediatric crisis response center and additional programs. The reconstructed entrance includes a new glass wall in front of the building’s original pillars and a refreshed courtyard that will provide space for community events in the coming months.
The PHMC Public Health Campus on Cedar is an innovative public health campus that serves West and Southwest Philadelphia. In partnership with Penn Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and the Independence Blue Cross Foundation, its vision is to transform the facility into a 21st-century hub for health and wellness.
