Region’s Influential Leaders Announced
PHILADLPEHIA - On October 21, Tine Hansen-Turton, CEO of National Nursing Centers Consortium (NNCC), executive director of Convenient Care Association (CCA) and vice president of Health Care Access & Policy at Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC), was named a “Connector” by LEADERSHIP PHILADELPHIA.
LEADERSHIP PHILADELPHIA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting civic awareness and leadership skills among participants. “LEADERSHIP Philadelphia is the region's premiere leadership development and civic affairs training organization,” says Liz Dow, president of LEADERSHIP Philadelphia.
Every two years, 101 Connectors are identified as part of its Connector Project, naming the region’s 101 most influential and trusted leaders. “I and everyone else at PHMC are enormously gratified by the recognition of Tine Hansen-Turton’s important role in our organization,” says President and CEO of PHMC, Richard Cohen, a former Connector himself. “We congratulate her and look forward to the growing expanse of her contribution to the region.”
Hansen-Turton has led a national movement of nurse-managed health centers for the past decade. With over 15 years of experience, Hansen-Turton oversees NNCC, a professional association of community-based health centers, which has grown from 11 regional health centers to over 200 centers serving more than 2.5 million vulnerable people. Hansen-Turton has positioned nurse practitioners as primary health care providers globally and brings experience providing technical assistance in the areas of fundraising and program development, policy development, health education, advocacy, program planning and health center management.
Hansen-Turton is the co-author of two books: Conversations with Leaders and Community and Nurse-Managed Health Centers: Getting them Started and Keeping them Going, which won the American Journal of Nursing’s Book of the Year Award in 2006. Hansen-Turton received the Philadelphia Business Journal 40 under 40 Leadership Award in 2005 as well as the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship, through which she traveled to New Zealand to support the growth and development of nurses providing primary care. She subsequently organized a successful global healthcare conference there in 2008.
Hansen-Turton works with The Forum of Executive Women and the American and Pennsylvania Public Health Associations. She is currently chair of Caring People Alliance, a trustee at Chestnut Hill Healthcare Conversion Foundation and a Fellow in the Philadelphia College of Physicians.
