WestHaven is a Long-Term Structured Residence (LTRS). LTSRs serve individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness and who have reached maximum benefit from the mental health resources available elsewhere.
- Psychopharmacology
- Wellness/fitness
- Psychotherapies (including group sessions); major theoretical orientations, including behavior modification through positive reinforcement, cognitive restructuring, family systems; and ego-psychological approaches
- Family education
- Individualized treatment planning
- Individualized community programming
- Health services, including annual physical examinations, semi-annual dental examinations and individualized medical attention
- Individual and group leisure and recreational activities
- Cultural enhancement activities
- Counseling/life skills
- Creative arts therapy
- Case management services

Eligibility Criteria
Adults age 18-65
Completed a physical examination and psychiatric evaluation not more than six (6) months prior to application
- Qualify for voluntary treatment under section 201 of Act 50 (Mental Health Procedures Act) or involuntary treatment under section 304, 305 or 306 of Act 50
- Have a physician’s certification that the applicant does not require hospitalization, nursing facility care or a level of care more restrictive than a Long Term Structured Facility written within thirty (30) days before admission
- Evidence of severe psychosocial disability as a result of serious mental illness that indicates a less restrictive level of care is appropriate
Referral Process
Participants must access services through a referral from the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services.
