Sexual Health and Adolescent Risk Prevention (SHARP)

Back to Programs

The Sexual Health and Adolescent Risk Prevention (SHARP) program provides sexual and reproductive health education, focusing on making safer and healthier choices around sexual health. The evidence-based program aims to equip youth with the tools they need to protect their health and advocate for themselves. SHARP’s curriculum is designed toward inclusivity of youth living with Autism Spectrum Disorders or an intellectual or developmental disability.

SHARP, which is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s Personal Responsibility Education Program, operates under Philadelphia Area Sexual Health Initiative (PASHI), a program of PHMC’s Health Promotion Services.

  • Offer evidence-based strategies to reduce risky behaviors
  • Conduct group sessions and one-on-one sessions focused on resource connection and support
  • Explore topics such as sexual health and reproductive justice; consent, boundaries, and healthy relationships; HIV/STI and pregnancy prevention strategies; and critical thinking, empowerment and advocacy skills
