Montgomery County Housing Program
Montgomery County Housing Program is Montgomery County’s unified and coordinated housing crisis response system for families and individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The program’s “housing first” approach involves guiding participants to quickly find and move into permanent housing, then to obtain the supports needed to maintain that housing long-term. Montgomery County Housing Program also actively works to recruit and retain landlords and housing managers willing to rent to program participants.
For individuals and families:
- Coordinate housing-focused case management and financial assistance before and after their move, including tenant education, budgeting, household management, employment assistance and crisis intervention
- Connect participants with community, health, human and financial services needed to prevent future experiences of homelessness
For landlords and housing managers:
- Timely rent payments
- Support with marketing and advertising vacant units
- Financial support, including payment for any damages that exceed the security deposit, unpaid rent reimbursement, payment of legal fees incurred related to eviction or lease violations
- Access to Housing Locators for individual support
