Medical Billing and Coding, a Workforce Development program, provides training for adults to achieve National Certified Insurance Coding Specialist (NCICS) certification. The program focuses on coding for medical claims in physician offices, hospitals and third-party billing companies, with certification administered by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Medical Billing and Coding is a program of PHMC’s Health Promotion Services.
- NCICS certification training
- Instruction in CPTA®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes
- Application of coding guidelines and conventions
- Practical coding of diagnoses, procedures and services
- Certification recognized by NCCT
- Training on operative reports and evaluation and management services

Eligibility Criteria
High school diploma or GED
Ability to pass a criminal background check
8th grade reading and math level
Referral Process
Participants may get involved directly, or a recovery/treatment program may recommend it.
