Farm to School Project

The Farm to School project enhances access to therapeutic garden activities, local foods and nutrition education for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A collaboration between PHMC and PHMC subsidiaries Health Promotion Council, Fairwold Academy, and Mill Creek School, Farm to School builds on existing farm-to-school programming to promote healthy eating and independent living skills.
- Edible teaching gardens with hands-on learning
- Quarterly tasting events and culinary demonstrations
- Nutrition education and meal planning workshops
- Hands-on cooking techniques for independent living
- Mapping local food sources for better access to fresh produce

Eligibility Criteria
Student at Fairwold Academy or Mill Creek School
Age 5-21
Live in the Greater Philadelphia region
Referral Process
Students may get involved through Fairwold Academy and Mill Creek School.
