Community Health Worker (CHW) C.O.R.E.
Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification, Opportunities, and Readiness for Employment (CORE) supports the training and growth of CHWs across Pennsylvania and Delaware. CHWs are advocates for healthier communities; they help people access and navigate the health landscape, which in turn helps reduce health disparities.
- Free online CHW training: 75 hours of self-paced modules
- Free online health literacy training: 49 hours
- Experiential placement: 300 hours of on-the-job training, with an organization of the participant’s choice or through one of CHW Core’s partnering organizations
- Apprenticeship: one-year job readiness training option, where trainees complete CHW Core competency training while gaining 2,000 hours of on-the-job training with an employer. Apprentices graduate the program upon receiving their state CHW certification.

Eligibility Criteria
U.S. citizen or have a visa permitting permanent residence in the U.S.
High school degree or GED
Live and/or work in Pennsylvania or Delaware

Both individuals interested in a training and organizations interested in partnering can sign up or reach out directly.
At this time, our seats for the CHW and Behavioral Health trainings covered by our grant funding are filled. Submitting an application into our online form will enter you onto a waitlist for the next available training cohort, but does not guarantee our ability to make a slot available for everyone.
