Community Health Worker (CHW) C.O.R.E.

Back to Programs

Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification, Opportunities, and Readiness for Employment (CORE) supports the training and growth of CHWs across Pennsylvania and Delaware. CHWs are advocates for healthier communities; they help people access and navigate the health landscape, which in turn helps reduce health disparities.

  • Free online CHW training: 75 hours of self-paced modules
  • Free online health literacy training: 49 hours
  • Experiential placement: 300 hours of on-the-job training, with an organization of the participant’s choice or through one of CHW Core’s partnering organizations
  • Apprenticeship: one-year job readiness training option, where trainees complete CHW Core competency training while gaining 2,000 hours of on-the-job training with an employer. Apprentices graduate the program upon receiving their state CHW certification.
