Comunidad Hispana (LCH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Margarita
Queralt Mirkil as the organization’s new executive director. “I am very impressed
with Ms. Mirkil’s ability and insight and I am looking forward to working with
her,” says Michele Tucker, president of LCH’s Board of Directors. “We are
confident that she can lead us forward to the next level and we’re thrilled to
have her.”

Mirkil
brings to LCH more than 20 years of experience in marketing, communications,
program management and strategic planning at corporations ranging from Vanguard
to MCI Communications. “Working at LCH will be a great opportunity for me to
apply a lot of the skills and experience I have honed in the corporate world to
a bilingual community-based organizations that daily addresses critical human
needs,” said Mirkil. “That really appeals to me.”

As
executive director, Mirkil will lead the effort to construct a new home for LCH
that will house all of its services in one facility. She will also work closely
with Alice Moorhead, campaign chair, and Elizabeth R. Moran, honorary campaign
chair, to conduct a capital campaign to secure the funds needed to assure the
building’s completion.  “LCH has a 35
year history of providing successful, meaningful and high-quality programs,”
says Mirkil, “and with the move to a new state-of-the-art facility we will
strengthen LCH’s ability to assist underserved residents in our community.”

Mirkil
holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania
and a master of business administration in finance and international business
from Columbia University. She is a member of the
American Translators Association and the National Association of Hispanic MBAs.
