The American Public Health Association (APHA) has published
a book entitled Youth Violence: Interventions for Health Care Providers The preparation of this manuscript was made
possible through a grant to PHMC’s Research and Evaluation component from the
National Institutes of Health, National Library of Medicine and was edited by former staffer Robert
Ketterlinus, PhD.

PHMC has been conducting research and program evaluations on
youth violence for more than a decade.
Some of this initial work, including research described in this edited
monograph, was funded by the William Penn Foundation and enabled PHMC to work
with a broad array of individuals and organizations in community and hospital
settings.

According to APHA, “This book reflects and contributes to an
interdisciplinary public health approach towards youth violence prevention that
involves a three-step process: 1) identify and describe the problem; 2) develop
and evaluate interventions to prevent the problem; and 3) implement those
interventions in the community. The book also addresses theory, current
research and operational strategies on ways Emergency Departments might use a public
health approach to responding to intentional violence involving youth.”
