Do you or a client have a child in grades K-5 who is struggling in school? PHMC’s Child Development and Family Services Department and Penn State University are working together on a study to help parents who have concerns about their elementary school-age children. The team is seeking families in Philadelphia to assess new learning materials designed to help parents support their child’s educational needs.
You may be eligible for the study if you:
- have a child in kindergarten through grade 5 in Philadelphia
- are concerned about disabilities, delays or challenging behaviors
- are willing to complete two questionnaires about you and your family
The curriculum in this study is an adaptation of the original Family Foundations Program developed by Dr. Mark Feinberg at the Prevention Research Center, Penn State University. In this adaptation, participatory sessions and workbooks have been enhanced to build parents’ knowledge of the special education system and strengthen their communication skills, helping them work together to support their child’s educational needs.
Eligible families can receive up to $200 for participating. Please see this flyer for more information and complete this survey to find out if you are eligible.
