Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academy (CFPA)

Back to Programs

The Clinical Faculty and Preceptor Academy (CFPA) provides a unique educational opportunity to bridge the foundational knowledge gap between being an expert nurse and a novice educator in the clinical setting to undergraduate nursing students. The CFPA 101 course is available to all nurses within HRSA Region 3 through September 2026. Upon completion of the program, nurses will receive a certificate of completion from the Geisinger School of Nursing and may be eligible for 10 CEUs for $15.

CFPA is a collaboration between the Geisinger School of Nursing and the Pennsylvania Nursing Workforce Coalition (PA-NWC) to improve the training, preparation and availability of clinical faculty and preceptors across HRSA Region 3 (PA, MD, DE, VA, WV and DC).

The CFPA is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

  • Build academic-clinical-community partnerships
  • Developed comprehensive and self-guided nurse education training curricula, called CFPA 101
  • Engage new and/or existing nurse education and forward-facing staff nurses in implementing the CFPA 101 training as skilled clinical instructors and/or preceptors
