As Michael Pearson concludes his tenure as President and CEO of PHMC on June 30, we extend our sincere gratitude for his leadership, dedication and lasting contributions to our organization.

Mike first joined PHMC’s Board of Directors in 2011 and served in several leadership positions, including Treasurer, Vice Chair and Board Chair. In July 2023, he stepped into the role of InterimPresident and CEO during a pivotal time for the organization. Less than six months later, the Board appointed him President and CEO, recognizing his steady leadership and deep commitment to PHMC’s mission.

Throughout his service to PHMC, Mike has helped strengthen the organization while remaining focused on our mission of improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve. During his time as President and CEO, Mike led important work to position PHMC for the future, including:

  • Launching PHMC’s organizational core values and strategic plan.
  • Driving efforts to strengthen financial stewardship and operational efficiency.
  • Expanding organizational capacity through significant new contracts, including Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC) programs in three counties.
  • Elevating PHMC’s voice within the nonprofit community by advocating for improvements to government contracting and provider payment practices.
  • Helping guide the organization through an increasingly complex public health and funding environment.

Under Mike’s leadership, PHMC continued to serve as the region’s largest public health and human services organization, reaching nearly 350,000 individuals each year through approximately 200 programs, multiple subsidiary organizations and 70 locations.

“We are deeply grateful to Michael for his unwavering dedication to the organization and his focus on improving operational performance,” said Kathleen Kinslow, PHMC Board Chair.

Effective July 1, 2026, Christina Hayden will serve as Interim President and CEO. Christina currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer. The Board’s appointment reflects its confidence in Christina and the PHMC Leadership Team to provide stability and continuity while continuing to advance PHMC’s mission.

On behalf of the PHMC Board of Directors and the entire organization, we wish Mike and his family all the best in his retirement. Thank you, Mike, for your leadership and commitment to building and sustaining healthier communities.
