An article titled "Hypermasculinity and Sexual Risk Among Black and White Men Who Have Sex With Men and Women" by PHMC's Archana LaPollo, Jennifer Lauby and Lisa Bond was recently published in the American Journal of Men's Health.

Men who have sex with men and women (MSMW), in particular Black MSMW, continue to represent the most severely affected population in the United States with high rates of HIV infection. This study is among the very few that focuses on factors that influence Black MSMW specific risk behaviors for HIV. Using data collected from 180 Black and 101 White males and comparing differences by race, the results indicated that hypermasculinity was associated with an increased number of sex partners and is important to address in programs that aim to reduce HIV risk among Black MSMW.
