Partnership underscores connection between financial independence and public health
PHILADELPHIA – Clarifi, a nonprofit community resource devoted to lifelong financial literacy, has joined Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) as an affiliate. Clarifi delivers services that empower people to make smarter decisions about money throughout their lives through one-on one counseling and education programs. The affiliation underscores the important link between financial independence and public health.
"We're excited to welcome Clarifi as the newest member of the PHMC affiliate family," said, Richard J. Cohen, president and CEO of PHMC. "Clarifi's mission to help people identify and secure the most important assets in their lives furthers our mission of building and sustaining healthier communities."
As an affiliate, Clarifi will benefit from programmatic and infrastructure support and economies of scale. In addition, PHMC conducts research and provides evaluation that allows the organization to assess and target health issues effectively. With this affiliation, PHMC now has a total of 11 affiliations and 350 programs, and will look to bring needed financial services to the more than 200,000 people they serve across the region.
"Our relationship with PHMC provides us with an opportunity to become part of a diverse public health institute and network of regional nonprofit organizations, ultimately allowing us to extend our reach into more communities and impact additional populations," said Patricia A. Hasson, president of Clarifi. "In today's economic and healthcare environment we see now more than ever that financial stability impacts all areas of one's life, especially their health. Together with PHMC, we'll strive to ensure that important public health issues aren't compromised due to economic barriers."
Clarifi offers financial counseling and financial literacy programs designed to help consumers in all stages of life plan for their financial future. Clarifi's financial counselors provide services at 13 offices throughout the Philadelphia Metro Area, including South Jersey and Delaware, offering bilingual services in Spanish and Chinese.
"PHMC and Clarifi view this affiliation as an innovative relationship for the people we serve," Cohen added. "Expanding programs and services, increasing workforce capacity and extending our reach to the most vulnerable communities – that's where we can continue to live our missions."
