In July, Lee Carson, a research associate in PHMC’s Research and Evaluation Group, joined Pennsylvania LGBT and HIV advocates to testify before Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging Brian Duke. The public hearing urged state officials to include in Pennsylvania’s State Plan on Aging language that addresses LGBT elders and seniors with HIV. Carson conducts PHMC research related to the LGBT community and has served as president of the Black Gay Men's Leadership Council for the last six years. He has worked in the areas of HIV prevention and substance abuse rehabilitation in the LGBT population for the past 13 years.
