Health Promotion Council's Child Asthma Link Line program was recently awarded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Exemplary Award for its leadership and commitment to comprehensive asthma care.

Developed by the Philadelphia Allies Against Asthma Coalition, Child Asthma Link Line is a free community-based telephone center that integrates a wide range of services for families of children with asthma. The program helps coordinate medical appointments, asthma education and other services for families affected by asthma. Child Asthma Link Line also helps uninsured families obtain health insurance.

The EPA's National Exemplary Award recognizes community-based asthma programs that have:

  • Strong community ties High performing collaborations and partnerships
  • Integrated health care services
  • Tailored environmental interventions
  • Achieved positive health outcomes
Child Asthma Link Line partners with Thomas Jefferson University, The Community Asthma Prevention Program at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the School District of Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.

Child Asthma Link Line is free and can be accessed by calling 1-866-610-6000. Services are offered both in English and Spanish.
