PHMC is dedicated to National Prevention Week's goals of increasing public awareness of, and action around, substance abuse and mental health issues.
National Prevention Week is an opportunity for individuals and organizations to promote prevention strategies and educate others about behavioral health issues. PHMC's Behavioral Health Services network addresses these issues in Southeastern Pennsylvania through several areas: criminal justice services, drug and alcohol treatment, mental health treatment, recovery housing, and youth and family services.
National Prevention Week is supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services agency. This year, SAMHSA is encouraging people to participate in its "I Choose" project, in which people submit photos of themselves holding a sign with a personal message about how substance abuse prevention or mental health is important in their lives.
Visit the SAMHSA website to learn more about National Prevention Week, to find resources and to see the "I Choose" gallery.
