Everyone can help by raising awareness that individuals with intellectual disabilities can and do live everyday lives. In 2010, President Obama signed Rosa's Law, which replaced the term "mental retardation" with "intellectual disability" in federal policy. Pledge to end the use of the "R" word.
On March 18, at PersonLink's quarterly Family Advisory Committee meeting, an esteemed guest speaker will help attendees understand how people with intellectual disabilities and their support networks can plan for a healthy financial and medical future. More information, including how to RSVP, can be found online.
Check PersonLink's Facebook and Twitter pages throughout month of March to get the latest on other community events, awareness campaigns, and how you can get involved. Visit the PersonLink website to learn more about the organization's work.
