PHMC affiliate Health Promotion Council (HPC) was featured in an article on Philly.com about the 2014 Philly Play Summer Challenge. HPC designed and implemented Philly Play, a six-week free fitness class for children, ages 6-13, at ten participating local recreational centers throughout the city.

By teaching children invaluable skills, including dance and team sports, Philly Play enables them to be more active. As Vanessa pointed out, studies show that physical activity can reduce the risk of obesity and related chronic conditions.
